Bzzz Bzzzz Bzzzz....

I think I am going to attempt to make this...  Not sure if I'm insane or not, but I finally finished my travel project (a pair of socks that took FOREVER to finish) and need something new that is easy to keep in my purse.  Plus, I have a whole lot of sock yarn scraps that I could put to a purpose rather than just having them hanging around in ziplock bags forever.

Here's my question though, how many of the same colorway should I make?  I don't mind having some repeats as I have more of some yarn than others but I don't know if I want it to be super obvious that there are lots of one and only a few of another.  I think I have to set a limit of how many I will make from a certain yarn and then maybe try to trade what ever extra I might have for other peoples scraps.  Definitely going to have to ponder this.

Here is my first hexipuff:

I feel like it came out smaller than the ones in the picture look, what do you think?  Pattern says they will be about 3 inches in diameter, but mine is closer to 2.5 inches.  I got fairly close to the correct gauge though, so I don't know what happened.  Gauge is always an issue for me... I guess I knit really loosely?  It doesn't feel loose as I knit, but I usually have to go down at least two needle sizes to get the gauge a pattern calls for.  I only when down from 4s to 3s for this, so maybe that is why mine is a little smaller?  If I use 4s though you are going to be able to see the stuffing right through the stitches.  You already can a little bit... I don't know, maybe it is because this yarn was a stretchy?  I shall try another in a non-stretchy yarn and see what happens...

The socks that took forever...

I think I've been working on these socks for over two years...  They were my travel project.  I really only knit them while in the movies and in the car.  Glad to finally be done!  I got sick of the stretchy/cottony feel of this yarn really quickly (Patons Stretch Sock).  Time to cast on a new pair of socks, not sure which I'm going to make next but I'm leaning towards something complicated (probably from Knit, Sock, Love).

The Color Run

I did my first 5K yesterday.  It was so much fun.  It was hot and there was lots of walking involved, but I finished (and even a little faster than I thought I would).  I would definitely be up for doing this again next year!  There was a bit of a debacle with the shuttles at the end, but it was because of circumstances that could not be controlled so I guess I can't complain too much.  Definitely got a bit of a sunburn but overall it was a great experience.

Annoying sweater...

I completely forgot to post this before.  I finally finished my February Lady Sweater.  Not super impressed with how it came out.  It's wearable, but the sleeves are really quite big.  The whole thing is a little too large actually.  I'm not sure why.  I went down two needle sizes to get the correct gauge and then made the smaller of the two sizes that I was right in between.  Oh well, on to something else...  I did get to wear it once on a chilly day this spring before the very warm weather arrived.  The main modification I made was to knit in garter stitch until it was past the bust.  I don't like how the pattern starts the lace part mid-boob, not a good look on anyone but the most flat chested of women!

I also made a slouchy hat and some fingerless mittens out of my very first useable handspun yarn (not the first that I spun, but the first fiber that I really liked and wasn't just practicing on anymore).

Here's some other yarn that I have spun as well.  I am loving my spinning wheel, I don't know why I waited so long to get one...

Twitter

I started a twitter feed (@SPsticks) solely to journal my workouts and attempt to stay motivated.  It's unrealistic for me to think I'm going to blog everyday, but this way I will have a nice record of what I've been doing.

I linked my FitBit account to it as well so it will post my daily stats and activities.  I got a little derailed getting started with my summer plan as I got strep throat.  Who gets strep throat in the summer?  Apparently I do.  I feel like I've been sick more times in the past year then any other time in my life... not sure what is going on!  Anyways, back on track now.  I'm logging all my exercise on the FitBit site (if you don't know what a FitBit is check out www.fitbit.com, I think it's a great little device and highly recommend it!). 5k coming up soon!

I've also started a major reorganization/decluttering project in my apartment.  So far I am off to a good start!  I need to focus and stop jumping from one room to another though!  I do a shelf here, a draw there... need to pick a room and stay in it until it is done!

Time for a few errands and then off to the gym...
