but I just bought my 4...

Movie Friday!

Enjoyed a lovely day of movies and lunch on Friday... here's what I saw:

It was ok... Felt very rushed, and a lot of the backstory to the characters were missing. It didn't help that there was something wrong with the screen in the theater causing it to be rather blurry. I didn't hate it, but I didn't love it either. I disliked much of the casting, but I did like the two main characters. I really wished they had slowed down and made it a little longer of a movie (it was only an hour and 37 minutes), that way they could have developed the plot and characters a little more. I do hope it does well enough that the part 2 & 3 actually get made.

Pretty good. Of course the book was much better, but isn't that always the way? They left out a few characters... But the costumes and make up were fun, I love the style of the time period. All in all definitely worth seeing, even if you haven't read the book.

Yarn Bowl

I think this would look lovely on my coffee table!

What a neat idea, plus it would keep my yarn off the floor... which always seems to be dusty no matter how often I sweep and swiffer it!

Matching Meret Mittens For Mom

How's that for alliteration?  I consider myself an advanced knitter at this point...  Some times I still struggle with figuring out a pattern, but for the most part I am quite experienced.  So, it is a little odd that I have never made a pair of mittens.  This was my very first attempt.  They were meant to be a Christmas gift, but obviously they are a bit late!  Still, late is better than never.  I think they came out pretty well, but the thumbs do not fit all that well.  They're wearable, but next time I need to make the thumbs longer I think.  They also seem a bit big.  I hope they fit my mom!

Review: Paul

Went to Chunky's last night in the mood for a burger and a fun movie.  At the last moment I changed my mind and ordered the 3D French Dip sandwich.  This was a bad move... It wasn't very good.  I should always stick with a burger there, I'm never really happy when I order anything else.

Thankfully, I was not at all disappointed by the movie.  I really enjoyed it.  It was silly, fun, and I laughed openly.  I got the feeling there were a lot of nods to other sci fi movies/television shows, but most of them went over my head.  If you're in the mood for a light comedy, definitely go see this.

Is this movie going to win awards?  No.  What it hilarious? You "bet your hairy love eggs" it was!

One for Me, One for V

At this point I have made many Merets.  When I wore mine out on a shopping trip with one of my friends a while ago, she liked it so much I offered to make her one.  I was going to have her pick out some yarn while we were at Open Studios in March, but she really wanted it to look just like mine.  Thankfully I had enough yarn left to make a second one!
I hope she likes it!  I was overjoyed when she offered to buy me some yarn as payment.  I've been admiring this yarn from Lynne's studio for months now... I can't wait to make socks from it! :)

New Yarn, Finish Project, Upcoming Knitting Projects

Had a great weekend knitting wise!  Finished a project, got some new needles, and acquired some new yarn!

First, I pick up my new Zephyr Options Interchangeable set form KnitPicks.  I'm really excited about these.  I've been wanting a KnitPicks set for a while and the $10 coupon code that Nicole emailed me was the push I needed to finally order some.

Second, in the same order I also got some DK Gloss in Fairy Tale so I could finish the Christmas present I have been working on for my mom (yes I know it is April).  I made her a Meret hat and actually gave it to her on Christmas Day, but had not yet finished the matching scarf and mittens.  I finally finished the scarf yesterday and now I'm working on the mittens.

Third, I acquired some new yarn from Rachel's de-stashing efforts.  New yarn always makes me happy, free new yarn makes me ecstatic!  Here are my fantastic new additions to my stash:

In return I am going to do some knitting for Rachel, who does very little knitting for herself.  This will become a Meret and matching fingerless mittens:
And these will become socks:
I need to get busy with my knitting!  Lately work and homework has gotten in the way of my crafting, but April vacation is just around the corner and then summer vacation will be here before we know it.  I should do some de-stashing of my own.  I think I need to do some serious spring cleaning and organizing over April vacation.
