I love this video...

But that stupid song gets stuck in my head every time I watch it!

Socks for My Dad

I am trying really hard to get these done for Christmas, but I'm not sure I'm going to finish them in time.

I was also hoping to make a scarf for my mother (to match the hat I made her) and possibly a hat for my brother... Should have started my Christmas knitting sooner!

One Down

One Christmas gift down! Got lots of knitting done yesterday while watching some Tru Blood with Rachel.

Today I started watching Lost from the beginning (I didn't watch it while it was actually on) and was able to finish a Meret for my mom (I am making one for myself as well, but it is in time out while I work on Xmas gifts).

Holiday Knitting

My KnitPicks order arrived today, so I can finally get started on my holiday knitting. My goals are pretty ambitious, but it's not like I'll be doing anything other than watching tv and knitting up until Christmas day anyway.

I would really like to make a matching hat and scarf set for my mom and a pair of socks for my dad. I think that both of these are probably realistic if I knit like crazy the next several days.

Here's what I got from KnitPicks:

Gloss DK in Fairy Tail and Stroll in Basalt Heather

I had also wanted to make my grandmother a pair of socks, but I am not optimistic that I will have enough time for that.

Let the knitting begin!

It has sleeves!

For those of you who don't know, I had surgery on Thursday and will be confined to my apartment for 2 weeks and out of work for 4 to 6.

I am sore and uncomfortable, but otherwise doing really well all things considered.

The silver-lining is that I already managed to get the DVR down to 29% (which is really impressive for me!) and I am getting lots of knitting done as well.

I've been putting off working on these sleeves for a while. Mainly because they are 92 stitches each and plain old boring stockinette stitch. But they are now DONE and attached to the body. I call the progress!

Meret 2.0

Last December I made the Meret, aka mystery beret, for a secret Santa swap. I really liked how it came out (after going back and adding an extra repeat for more "slouchiness"). I got some yarn from Rachel at open studios this past weekend, so this is what it is going to be! Here's to hoping there is enough left for some matching fingerless mitts!

Side note: did you know that in Egyptian mythology Meret (also spelled Mert) was a goddess who was strongly associated with rejoicing, such as singing and dancing? Thank you Wikipedia for that random bit of info!

Finished something!

I had a lovely last weekend of freedom before I will confined to the couch for a fee weeks.

Hung out with the guy Friday night, hung out with Rachel Saturday afternoon at open studios, hung out with some friends Saturday night, and then went to open studios again today with Kristen.

Even with all that hanging out I managed to finish a pair of socks! Sadly I ran out of yarn... And since it's some that I had hand dyed there is no more. I finished off the toes with some green I had of the same yarn though and I am satisfied with the result.

Here they are:
